Posted in Uncategorized on March 14, 2009 by jennybI was spending a lazy Saturday night perusing iTunes when I stumbled across some Olivia Newton-John music. (don’t sneer, you know that you search for her songs) Well, as I was looking at some songs by Olivia, I looked over to the right side of the page to the Top Rated imixes. I stared at the page and blinked a couple of times, I couldn’t believe it! Right in front of my eyes I saw the following:

Look in the lower right corner, fourth imix down….here is a close-up:

The imix named “(gasp) I love that song” is mine!!!! OMG I’m famous!!!
Autographs upon request.

“Why jennyb, what is this?”, you ask. Well my friend this is a very tiny life saver! This little device scans bar codes. “So”, you say. Hold on I say, doubter. Let me explain. This little scanner reads barcodes, and when downloaded into the software will show me information about whatever I scan. Lets say for instance you are a Chiropractor with lots of reference books. Lets say you hear about a new book but can’t remember if you already have it or not…well, you can just look in your database that containes all of the books you own. Each entry will show you a picture of the cover of the book, author, date you purchased, how many copies you own, a brief synopses, the publisher, and how much you paid for it.
“Well that’s great for that Chiropractor, but how does this apply to me?”, you say. Great question friend! This software does the same thing for that wall of cd’s you have up stairs, the wine collection in the cellar, the electronics that you own, and if your favorite pieces of art don’t have a bar code, you can assign one and input your own information into the database. This feature is very handy in case you ever have anything stolen!
So, your intrigued are you? Thought so. You know where to find it!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 13, 2009 by jennybOk, I have just returned from one of the best experiences ever. I call it group. No, not that kind of group. This kind of group…..30 to 40 retirees and close to retirees and me chatting about the wonders of the mac, the internet, the iphone, early bird specials, and bowel movements. We ask questions, watch presentations, break for snacks and coffee (of course) that are provided, and then there are giveaways!! I love group!!
I will now introduce you to my new best friend Wilma. We hit it off right at the start! Her speech patterns remind me of Phylicia Rashad. She impressed me with her desire to learn more about the mac and the computer in general. She has only had a computer for about 5 years. She says she does not want to be left behind, “You can’t get anything done these days without having computer knowledge”, “I used to say, do this for me, and it would get done. I have to start learning to do it myself”
Stay tuned for more fabulous quotes from Wilma and updates from group!
Here’s hoping I have a winning raffle ticket next time….cross your fingers!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 20, 2009 by jennybAs I sit here this morning flipping channels with one hand and my computer on my lap, I can barely see either form of media for the tears welling up in my eyes. This truly is a momentous occasion, not just to end the tyranny of the Bush administration, but to usher in a group of people who’s goal it is to bring the people of the United States (and the world) together. The events over the last several days has caused me cry like a little baby. I most likely will do something today that Oprah refers to as “the ugly cry”, or what my dear Alabamians would call “squall”. Yes, when you cry in an uncontrollable fashion it is called “squalling”. Kids usually are known for it, I will be a classic example of it come noon today. This is what it looks like…

Ok, who am I kidding, at the first boom of a cannon,
sound of a tympani drum,
if anyone has a live eagle that is going to fly across the crowd,
heck, if someone even so much as brings out a triangle..I am going to lose it people!

I love pomp and circumstance!
I am moved by the following photo and am so proud that we made this possible. I am hopeful for our future!
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”—Barack Obama, November 4, 2008

I’ve got to say once again, I love my house. There is nothing better than just hanging out around the house on a slightly chilly day. I hope that I am not becoming a hermit…but I am not sure how I would tell. Ok my fan, I am charging you with making sure I am not becoming housebound! But don’t rescue me too quick, I want to be just shy of agoraphobia before you intervene. Needless to say, I am having a wonderful weekend!

I am grateful.
I am inclined to do a little reflection on this last day of 2008.
I am absolutely certain that I have the most wonderful life. I am extremely grateful for another amazing year with an phenomenal partner to share every aspect of my life with. We make each other laugh every single day and balance each other perfectly. I learn more from this relationship than I ever thought I would or could. We are two peas in a pod.
I also have other relationships that simply enrich my existence and those people make me a better person. I am grateful for the ability to begin to let things go and recognize that it is not all about me. I have grown this year as a person and I am thankful for that. I am so appreciative of the opportunities that have presented this year and in years past.
I have a house that I absolutely adore and can’t stand to leave, pets that make me giggle, and a job that allows me to experience amazing changes in people’s health on a daily basis.
I am hopeful for the future and jump in with both feet ready to experience what comes my way. I intend to be still, present, and receptive taking each moment as it comes. I look forward to loving, growing, and being.
Yes, I am grateful.
